SANDIA CREEK DRIVe / DE LUZ ROAD

Description: Sandia Creek Drive and De Luz Road are very scenic yet challenging drive. These two highways cut through the rolling hills of Fallbrook and Temecula and are regularly covered by a canopy of trees that outline the road. The constant changes in elevation makes this drive an extremely invigorating drive.

Access: Fallbrook, De Luz Road

Difficulty: ★★★☆☆
While an incredibly scenic route, don’t let the sights take your attention away from this challenging road. While not as difficult as Engineer’s Road or Palomar Mountain, these roads include a variety of tight turns and sweepers and should not be underestimated. It a wonderful route for those headed to Temecula and don’t mind the detour.

The roads are well maintained and smooth, keep an eye out for the water crossings as they can cause the road to get slick.

Traffic: ★★☆☆☆
It is a fairly main thoroughfare and includes a number of private homes, watch out for cars on the blind turns.

Scenery: ★★★★☆
This stretch of road feels almost like a painting as you pass underneath the old growth trees, and beautiful country homes – absolutely stunning in the fall.

Attractions: Fallbrook Winery, Main Street Cafe, CPR Classic in Fallbrook; Historic Old Town in Temecula.
