The BUZZ

by Anastasia Berta
PCASDR President

It’s the 1st of March, and I’ve started the much-anticipated countdown: just 12 more days ‘til Sunday, March 13–when Daylight Savings Time officially begins, ending the dreaded “Dark Days of Winter.” (Hey, I came to the Sunshine State for a reason, and sundown before the end of business just doesn’t cut it for me!) One week later, we welcome the First Day of Spring, and I can easily visualize my favorite driving seasons, Spring, Summer, and Fall, rolling gloriously, luxuriously out in front of me: let’s drop the top and hit the twisties!
So much to look forward to this month, our Event Chairs have been busy! Cayenne and Macan owners are gearing up for an exciting Off-Road Adventure through beautiful Anza-Borrega on Saturday, March 12 with tour leader Garrett Guess, just in time to catch desert flowers in full bloom. http://msreg.com/SpringCayenne22

March 19, PCASDR Social Chair Victoria Varon departs on the legendary 8-day Porsches and Parks Tour, this year heading to 4 Corners, hitting some of my favorite Southwest destinations: Old Town Scottsdale, Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Durango, Telluride, Moab and the Arches, Zion National Park, and Vegas, Baby! before heading back to San Diego. For the first time this year, SDR members will be joined by members from Victoria’s newly-formed Vineyard Region–boy are they in for a treat!

“Morning People” can look forward to SUVs-n-Coffee at Krispy Kreme March 19, and Cars and SDR at Jessie’s Bake Shop March 27. Those who love to socialize with other Porsche Peeps over good food and drink, mark your calendars for for our Last Tuesday Social March 29, details TBD. No registration required for these events, just show up!

Those who prefer their grapes in liquid form should sign up très vite for our Culinary Tour de France, a wine and food extravaganza featuring libations from the renowned wine regions of France, paired with foods customary to each region.
Did I mention that legendary Chef Ron Oliver, award-winning cookbook author, former Marine Room Chef de Cuisine and San Diego Chef of the Year will be in the kitchen serving up his delectable creations? And that it will be at a member’s home with one of the most breathtakingly-beautiful views of the San Diego Harbor and Skyline? This will assuredly be a night to remember, so sign up NOW before this event sells out!! Monday, March 28, with tasting led by former wine store owner, certified wine judge, Washingtonian Magazine wine columnist, and wine educator Anastasia Berta ,and PCASDR Past President & Wine Afficianado Tom Brown. http://msreg.com/2022FrenchWine

“The kitchen is not only about making food, but creating memories. Every night we have an opportunity to bring happiness to people’s lives”

Don’t forget to sign up NOW for Drivers Education/Time Trial April 2-3 at Chuckwalla Valley Raceway. We were proud and fortunate to welcome six new DE/TT Instructors to our ranks during our recent DE/TT at the newly repaved and ever-so-delightful                     Streets              of         Willow– congrats          to         our       DE/TT  team, led            by Mark Curran, and our six new Instructors! We have plenty of talented instructors ready to introduce Porsche Peeps to the “big track!” No special equipment or car modifications required, so bring your precious Porsche to the track and let us show you what it (and YOU!) are capable of!  http://msreg.com/CVR0422

The “spiny scourge” seems to finally be in the rear-view mirror, so come on out of hiding and have some fun with your Porsche family–I look forward to seeing or meeting you soon!
