Normalcy, what is it? What will it be? We don’t really know yet, now do we? But in our attempt to know, to rediscover, to rebuild, we’ve now held several live, in-person events with the relaxing of COVID restrictions. We had a fantastic New member party (thanks to Lana Gill) with over 120 people attending. Our July Last Tuesday Social was a hit (thanks Martha McGowan and Sara Gengler). Lots of fun was had at the Porsche of San Diego Tech Session (thank you Julie Ngo). Most recently, we held our first in-person board meeting since March of 2020. Add to this the resumption of our Cars n SDR and the addition of the SUVs and coffee events and you can see that we are on our way back to “normal” whatever that may be. Now we just have to hope that the Delta variant (or anything new to come along) doesn’t undo all our hard-won advances. Many more events to come are being planned for you. Fingers crossed!

Last month Susan and I attended the Porsche Parade in French Lick, Indiana. This is our club’s annual national convention and is always a great week of Porsche filled activities with PCA friends new and old. It has also turned into a family get-away for us, as our daughter usually brings her family (son-in-law and two grand-daughters). The Natalie and Meredith really cleaned up, bring home five trophies from the Parade Kids activities. Others in our region did well as well: Tom and Lisa Gould won best overall in the TSD Rally – an award Tom previously won with his father, and now with his daughter; making this three generations of Top Winning rallyists. An awesome performance! Bev Gould and Ruth Young both took first in class in the Tech Quiz, and Bev & Lisa Gould took first in the Demo Rally. Congratulations to all our winners; a great performance for San Diego Region considering we only had six families attend from SDR this year. This is a low number for us, hopefully we’ll see our attendance pick up again next year.

This month is election month here in PCA-SDR. Our VP, Anastasia Berta did an amazing job of pulling together a nominating committee and collectively identifying six candidates. This is your chance to have your say in the leadership of the club. You can read about the candidates elsewhere in this issue, and either vote by mail or online.
